ROC AWARDS VOTING PROCESS
We have been listening and working out the kinks from last year. Overall we hope that the new process is easier to understand as there was so much confusion last time. So if you have been putting in hard work and dedication this is your opportunity to get yourself in the running to be a Roc Awards Nominee. First, to be eligible for consideration to be a 2017 Roc Award Nominee you MUST have performed, created a product, worked within the field, recorded, OR produced a project related to your category. If you can answer yes to one or more of those, then you can either nominate yourself or be nominated by someone to be recognized at the show. Shows must be consistent through-out the eligibility period. Second, the Nomination field is open NOVEMBER 5TH – JANUARY 14TH. Within this time you will need to submit a 30-45 second video clip s stating:
- Who you are
- What you do
- Why you should be nominated
- Examples of the project related to your field
Third, you need to make sure you submit a nomination to the email of the category you wish to be nominated in. If you are nominated and chosen to be in the running you become an official NOMINEE. In January the nominees will be announced and then it’s your job to rally your fans, the public and the whole City of Rochester to visit the Roc Awards website and vote for you in your category on the website. Once voting is shut down and all the votes are counted, join us & all of high society Rochester at the 2017 Roc Awards Show February 19th to see if you will be taking home the 2017 crown. To nominate someone in the category the process if the same; Include the name of the person in the subject line, and why they should be nominated in the body of the email.
The process begins with members and artists submitting entries, which are then screened for eligibility and category placement. The ROC AWARDS voting members, all involved in the creative and technical processes of recording and reviewing media, then participate in (1) the nominating process that determines the five finalists in each category; and (2) the final voting process which determines the ROC AWARD winners.
Reviewing sessions by experts in various fields are held to ensure that entered recordings meet specific qualifications and have been placed in appropriate field. The purpose of screenings is not to make artistic or technical judgments about the recordings, but rather to make sure that each entry is eligible and placed in its proper category.
